Winter Warmers

February 7, 2018

I seem to have mentioned how darn cold it is in every blog post this year but alas it still is. The winter weather can be challenging but it brings with it a chance to wear more, yay, and layer up! Every year I tend to struggle with knitwear, yet this year I've felt quite inspired to try colours and styles I haven't in the past.

Working in a retail store, I'm exposed to many a clothing piece and often lust over clothes that are brought into the fitting room, then run after my shift to go find it in my size! This Miss Selfridge jumper stood out to me when I walked through the store one day! I knew I wanted a red jumper (I don't know why but my red obsession is still in full force!). The red colour really pops and stands out against anything you wear it with. I love the eyelet detail, which gives it a little summin' extra. And the neckline, OMG LOVE! If you're not a fan of the red, it's also available in grey and pink. Perfect!

Now, I LOVE a statement sleeve and this next piece from Topshop is just the pinicle of all things great within the sleeve world! (lol) Thankfully they fit into my coat without making me look like the Michelin Man, not a good look! It's so cosy and again the neckline is just dreamy. I've paired it with my Mom style jeans from Urban Outfitters and my Zara shoes, a £10 sale find! (I know, bargain or what?). I'm really into fishnets at the moment too (not sure if that sounds ok, or normal but hey ho), so added some fishnet socks to give the outfit a little more edge. And of course I paired both looks with my Monki coat, obsessed doesn't even cover it, it's love!

This Sunday I am off the Paris, then Antwerp on a Uni trip, where it's due to snow! I shall definitely be taking these outfits with me. Today is my packing day and probably when I panic and next day deliver a whole new wardrobe because I deem everything I already own not good enough to take! Whenever I go away I feel a sense of dread and pressure in collating a wardrobe a) fit for purpose and weather conditions and b) whilst still being 'stylish'; and lets face it, you take a million more photos than you would normally whilst on holiday or visiting somewhere new. I mean if you don't Instagram you're in a foreign country, where you ever even there!!? (I joke, but there is an element of sad truth in it). Hopefully I won't be pulling my hair out in utter despair in packing for my week away. At the end of the day I am going, to experience the cities and widen my academic horizons whilst consuming a croissant or 3! So the plan is not to stress to much about what I'm wearing. I've never been to Antwerp so super excited to experience a new city and culture. More to follow on here I am sure, as I plan to document my adventures! Wish me luck, here goes 'packing day'!!
